Some people place statue of lord Ganesha at the entrances of homes,offices,shops and other buildings. On the other hand,some people believe that it is a bad omen to place the image or statue of lord Ganesha with his back facing towards the entrances of the premises.

So ,they stick an image or poster of the lord Ganesha on the other side of the entrance inside the premises.
By doing this unknowingly, anybody entering or existing the place had to face their back to the statue of lord Ganesha.
In addition to this,another reason why we should not place lord Ganesha’s image or statue at the entrance of any building (commercial or residential) as it’s because “of the following story”
When Goddess Parvati asked lord Ganesha to guard while she was busy inside,lord Ganesha did not allow anybody ,including lord Shiva n ended up in serious dispute. Therefore , he is not a dwarpal (gate keeper) so,his statue or image should be not placed!
